My Recent Amazing Read.

When Eric and Madeleine Little thought they could look forward to a new life with their first child, tragic circumstances prevented them from doing so.

You may remember from a previous post, I mentioned a book I was about to start called Dream Demon by B.J Davie.  Well I started reading it on Friday and I could not put it down.

This is not usually the genre I go for but there was something very intriguing about this book and I couldn't help but give it a shot. I am so glad I did.

Set in my beloved Scotland, always a winner with me, I found myself settling into the book very quickly.  In the first chapters, there was an exciting event that I myself could relate to, the birth of a child.  I relived every emotion as I read the words surrounding the beautiful occasion.  Then things took a rather dark turn, Eric and Daisy's lives would never be the same again.

I don't want to give too much away but I really want to share so much about this book.

The main character, Eric, is very likable and I felt myself really warming to him.  A typical Glaswegian, the way he spoke made me smile as that is the way I talk also and it was as if I was reading about someone I know from just down the road.

Daisy 6, who is just one year older than my son, is such a sweet character, a daddy's girls.  I love the closeness between them, the bond makes the story even more emotional.

The story, as I have said, is set in the Scottish Highlands, in the little village of Rosemarkie.  I imagined it to be a typical Scottish village, beautiful buildings, surrounded by farm land on one side and the sea on the other. A place I would happily visit and where you would be instantly made to feel welcome.

I started the book on Friday and finished it today.  The husband made me put the book down so I could actually get some sleep!

Engaging from start to finish, and I was not expecting THAT ending, the story is full of twists and turns, sure to keep you on your toes and wanting more.
